Volvo Trucks continues to write Safety Glory! Once again awarded the highest five-star safety rating for heavy-duty trucks by the authoritative European testing agency Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program). Among them, the Volvo FH Aero and Volvo FM models both performed outstandingly in the 2025 rating, jointly ranking among the top safety ranks.

'Double Crown' crowned for consecutive five-star safety glory

In 2024, Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) will conduct safety tests for heavy-duty commercial vehicles for the first time, with a special focus on the "fleet" segment of the market. In the first batch of tests, Volvo Trucks' FH Aero and FM models stood out as the only truck products to receive the highest five-star safety rating.

Recently, Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) released its second rating results, which included 6x2 box trucks for the first time in this test. Volvo Trucks' FH Aero 6x2 and FM 6x2 models participated in testing and once again received a five-star safety rating.

I am proud that all four Volvo trucks evaluated by Euro NCAP have achieved the highest safety rating. This achievement fully confirms the excellent safety performance of Volvo trucks. ”Volvo Trucks President Roger Alm said, "Being the best in the field of safety is what customers expect from Volvo. Now, the certification from a third-party authoritative organization not only confirms our consistent commitment, but also demonstrates Volvo Trucks' adherence to safety standards. In the future, we will continue to move firmly towards the vision of 'zero accidents'

Innovation leads to escort a 'zero accident' future

The highest five-star rating awarded by Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) signifies that Volvo Trucks not only meets the standards in key areas such as driver assistance and collision avoidance, but also surpasses the relevant standards, creating a strong traffic safety barrier for drivers and surrounding road users. This is highly in line with Volvo Trucks' vision for a "zero accidents" future. In the future, Volvo Trucks will continue to promote innovation in safety technology, providing reliable protection for drivers and passengers while also being able to anticipate potential risks in advance and effectively reduce the probability of accidents.

In addition, thanks to excellent visibility and the outstanding performance of Volvo's active safety system, both Volvo models meet the requirements of the "City Safe" standard. This standard aims to protect vulnerable road users in urban traffic scenarios.

Volvo is renowned worldwide for its safety performance, which is our core value and the cornerstone of our brand heritage. This rating proves that we are on the right path, "said Anna Wrige Berlin, Director of Transport and Product Safety at Volvo Trucks." Past achievements do not mean we can slack off. With every new product launch, we always demand higher standards of ourselves and continuously improve the safety performance of our trucks“

About Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program)

Euro NCAP, also known as the European New Car Assessment Program, is headquartered in Belgium and was established in 1996. Since then, it has quickly become the industry standard for assessing passenger car safety in Europe. At present, the institution has received support and recognition from multiple European governments, including the European Union.

In truck safety testing, each safety system will receive independent scores based on its actual performance, and the scores in these sub areas will be classified and summarized according to strict standards. Finally, by comprehensively calculating scores in various fields, the star rating of the entire vehicle is obtained, with a rating range of one to five stars. Among them, a five-star rating is the highest level, representing that the truck has reached the optimal level in terms of safety in the current testing system.

The scope of truck testing is as follows:

Safe driving: including passenger monitoring, visual field assurance (direct and indirect vision), and vehicle assistance functions (such as speed assistance);

Collision prevention: including frontal collision scenarios (involving passenger cars, pedestrians, and cyclists), obstacle avoidance collisions during low-speed driving, and collision risks caused by lane departure;

Post accident rescue: focus on evaluating the standardization of vehicle rescue information labeling;

Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Program) is committed to continuously expanding the breadth and depth of the safety assessment system. In the future, it will not only include collision protection assessment, but also conduct targeted testing for trucks in different transportation fields, making safety ratings more comprehensive and targeted.
